Nannies often ask

IS IT FREE TO REGISTER?

Yes. There are no registration or sign up fees for nannies.

Feel free to send me an email requesting an information pack.

ONCE I’VE APPLIED, HOW DO I GET WORK?

I arrange a time to meet you via a Skype conversation. This gives me a better understanding of your background, values and passions and what you seek in a family. I then look for a family that matches your approach if there isn’t already someone available within the network. I get in touch when I think I’ve a found you a good match. There is a support package you will receive at this stage, which ill support you in what to discuss meeting up with your potential family, what you might charge and more.

WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE THERE TO WORK AS A NANNY?

It is absolutely essential that you are up to date with the following documents:

  • Working With Children Check or Blue card
  • Police Check: https://auspost.com.au/police-checks
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Have taken out nanny insurance prior to commencement of a nanny role or arrange to asap
  • Also a MINIMUM of 2 years’ experience is required if the role is in early childhood (being a parent counts for this)

Beyond that, there are really no other requirements. As long as your values are aligned with those of the Australian Natural Nanny Network, you are set to apply and be matched with a family!

Be aware that relevant qualifications, courses attended, similar background or experience may all influence your ability to request a higher hourly rate to reflect the value you are able to offer.

HOW DO I SET MY HOURLY RATE?

Once your application is successful, we have met over Skype and I have matched you with a family, I will send you a package that will include a price guide for your hourly rate. The guide will take into account your qualifications, years of experience, whether you are a parent and other courses completed.

Please note that the price guide is a suggestion only. It is up to you and your family to negotiate a rate. When discussing the rate there may be other factors to consider such as number of children requiring care, expectations of the role and regularity of work.

WHAT SORT OF WORK IS AVAILABLE?

There are all levels of work available including one-off appointments, part-time, and sometimes full-time. There are also opportunities to provide a nanny-share experience which would provide a more dynamic role and create opportunity to increase earnings.

IS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes. I only use your personal details myself in order to match you with a family. Upon finding a match, there may be details I will ask your permission to share with your potential family, for example, what you value most, your background and qualifications. Information such as your address will remain private.

HOW DO I GET A WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK (WWCC) AND A POLICE CHECK?

This will differ depending on which state you live in. You can visit the Government website for your state and find the WWCC form to print out and complete.

You will then need to take your WWCC form to a registered Australia Post outlet for processing. Once successful, you will receive your WWCC card in the mail.

As for the Police Check, this is something that can now be completed online: https://auspost.com.au/police-checks

CAN I FIND NANNY-SHARE ARRANGEMENTS WITH ANNN?

Yes. This is a great option for families who want to save on the cost of a private nanny, or who want the social aspect for their child.

CAN I FIND A HOUSE CLEANER AT ANNN?

No. This service is exclusively for childcare and nanny-share arrangements.

ARE ANNN NANNIES ‘REGISTERED’ WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES SO I CAN CLAIM THE CHILD CARE BENEFIT (CCB)?

You will need to go through a third party in order to claim the CCS. Please note that there are specific criteria that must be met if you wish to obtain a Child Care Subsidy (CCS). We recommend https://www.peachiekids.com.au/ who specialise in assisting shift workers to obtain the CCS.

Yes, you will be matched with a nanny who lives within 40km of your location.

DOES ANNN SCREEN THE NANNIES?

ANNN receives an extensive application from interested candidates. This includes copies of a National or International Police Check, Working With Children Check and up-to-date First Aid Certificate. From here, nannies are vetted during a Skype interview to ascertain character, background, values and experience. As well as reference checks.

They come from varying backgrounds, walks of life and ages. Some nannies are also parents, some are studying and some nanny as a full-time professional career.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY MY NANNY?

You will receive a pay rate guide when you’re matched with a potential nanny. This is a guide only and the rate is something to be negotiated with your nanny. Please be aware that like any other service provider, your nanny will set their rate according to factors such as qualifications obtained, years of experience and requirements of the position and so on. You should expect your nanny to charge a higher rate if you require them to use of their own car, if additional duties are required such as housework (beyond light duties) and according to the number of children under their care.
